Hi, I'm Mr. Fish.
I teach middle school coding and robotics, and I believe teachers are unusually good at identifying problems worth solving.
Why I started building
I wanted students to have a voice in choosing their groups while still maintaining the flexibility to make decisions that supported everyone's learning. But every new grouping or seating chart could take hours.
I knew there had to be a way to solve this algorithmically. I just didn't have the programming skills to build it myself.
Working with AI as a coding partner changed that. It helped me turn that classroom frustration into ClassSeats, a tool designed around the way I actually teach.
I've spent 24 years in education, currently teaching coding and robotics at Mason Middle School. Before teaching, I practiced law — another profession built on asking careful questions and solving problems.
My hope is that this toolkit helps other teachers create practical solutions for their own classrooms.
